One size doesn't fit all, it's hard to determine which software is the best in the industry. Determining the right software for your business requires a lot of effort, this could be done through the salesman demo, consultation from the implementation effort, searching through the YouTube for more information regarding the business processes.
1. Vendor support. Software houses usually having partnership with third party re-sellers. It's advisable to check in the company size of that vendor. Some vendors could have not enough technical support staffs in carrying out the technical support routine.
2. Localization. Different country has its own local context. E.g. In Malaysia, we usually using field "Name" only. Some foreign software usually use field "First name"+"Middle name"+"Last name". This might create more complexity to the user.
3. Speed of implementation. The software is better to contains its own default value. E.g. Chart of account, GST Tax code, Currency code. Without the initialized value, there are more works to be done by the vendor as well as the user.
4. Price. Not all business should starts with a full-scale software. High priced software usually comes with more advance features, but it might not be useful for the users who just need an accounting software to submit GST. Spent too much into IT infrastructure could be hurtful to new start-up.
